Hong Kong is short on land and long on skyscrapers, so golf here is a bit of a treasure hunt. There is only one truly public course — but there is also a historic championship club, a clifftop members' course and a clutch of driving ranges where anyone can swing away. If you are working out where to play golf in Hong Kong in 2026, this guide covers every realistic option, from a full 18 to a bucket of balls after work.
Below you will find how to get onto a course as a visitor, what it costs, how to reach each spot and where to practise on a budget.
In This Guide
A quick reality check: Hong Kong has very few golf courses, and most are private members' clubs. That makes the two spots below where a visitor can actually get onto a full course all the more valuable — book early.
1. Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course — Sai Kung
If you can play only one round in Hong Kong, make it Kau Sai Chau (滘西洲). Run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a not-for-profit, it is the only public golf course in Hong Kong — and it is a beauty, spread across an island in Sai Kung with sweeping views of the South China Sea.
There are three 18-hole courses — the North and South were designed by Gary Player, the East by Nelson & Haworth — plus a 60-bay floodlit driving range, a short-game area and an instruction centre. You reach it by the club's own golf ferry from Sai Kung, which is half the fun. Booking opens seven days ahead and fills quickly at weekends.
Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (滘西洲)
Hong Kong's only public golf course, on an island off Sai Kung, with three 18-hole layouts and a 60-bay floodlit range. Best for a proper round without a club membership.
Confirm ferry times, fees and booking via Kau Sai Chau.
2. The Hong Kong Golf Club — Fanling
For a slice of history, the Hong Kong Golf Club (香港哥爾夫球會) at Fanling is the grande dame — home to three courses and, for decades, the Hong Kong Open. It is a private members' club, but it welcomes visitors on selected days, which is a rare treat for a course of this pedigree.
Green fees for visitors run to about HK$1,700 for 18 holes, with a discounted twilight rate (around HK$900) from mid-afternoon. It sits up in the northern New Territories near Sheung Shui, so leave time for the journey.
The Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling (香港哥爾夫球會)
Hong Kong's historic championship club, host of the Hong Kong Open, with three courses at Fanling. Best for a bucket-list round on selected visitor days.
Check visitor days, dress code and tee times via the Hong Kong Golf Club.
3. Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club — Sai Kung
Perched on the Clear Water Bay Peninsula, this 1982 club has one of the most scenic 18-hole courses in the region, with holes hugging the cliffs above the sea. It is a members-only country club, so you cannot simply book a tee time — but you can play as a member's guest, and some hotel or tour packages arrange access.
If you can wangle an invitation, take it: the setting is spectacular. Otherwise, keep it on the wish list and stick to the public options above.
Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club (清水灣)
A scenic, members-only clifftop club with an 18-hole course above the sea. Best if you can play as a member's guest or via a package.
Confirm guest access and tee times via the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club.
4. Tuen Mun Golf Centre — public driving range
Not everyone wants a four-hour round. To just hit balls, Tuen Mun Golf Centre (屯門高爾夫球中心) is the budget hero: run by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), it was Hong Kong's first public golf driving range and remains the cheapest place in town to practise.
Expect covered bays, a practice putting green and no-frills, wallet-friendly LCSD rates. It is out in the western New Territories, so pair it with a day around Tuen Mun.
Tuen Mun Golf Centre (屯門高爾夫球中心)
Hong Kong's first public golf driving range, run by the LCSD — cheap, walk-in-friendly bays plus practice greens. Best for budget practice and beginners.

5. Whitehead — Ma On Shan driving range
Over on the eastern side, Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range (白石) in Ma On Shan is a popular, scenic place to work on your swing, with balls flying out towards the water. It is an easy, open-to-all option if you are based around Sha Tin or Ma On Shan.
Like all ranges, it is sold by the bucket, so it is a low-commitment way to keep your game sharp between rounds.
Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range (白石)
A scenic, open-to-all driving range in Ma On Shan with waterside views. Best for east-side practice sessions and a relaxed bucket of balls.
