A pocket of calm in the heart of the financial district, Chater Garden swaps the old Hong Kong Cricket Club's pitch for shaded lawns, ornamental ponds and palm-lined paths right beside Statue Square.

Formally opened in 1978 and flanked by the former Legislative Council Building, it's a favourite lunchtime breather for Central's office crowd and a leafy contrast to the towers all around.
