Tombstone, 1890. Everyone in this dusty little town is chasing gold, and everyone pays "tribute" to a mayor and his crooked sheriff who've turned shaking down prospectors into a business model. We're a posse of opportunistic cowboys who've caught wind of a fat gold shipment leaving the mayor's saloon office tonight — and we've got exactly 60 minutes to sneak in, crack it open and ride out before the bad guys come back.
First thing you'll notice: the room is gorgeous. Of all eight rooms at Fox in a Box, Wild West Saloon is the one I'd photograph if they let you. Timber, brass, swinging-door frontier detailing — it's dressed to the hilt, and that craftsmanship pays off because half the fun is rifling through a saloon that feels genuinely lived-in. The puzzles reward curiosity over cleverness: you poke around, you find a thing, the thing unlocks another, and the gold inches closer.
It lands in the intermediate band but plays very friendly, which makes it one of Fox's best mixed-age picks. Rated 8 and up with a kid-friendly modification, it's the room I'd book for a birthday group spanning three generations. Nobody feels lost, everybody finds something, and the theme delights a ten-year-old and a forty-year-old equally, with the Game Master nudging via the in-room screen whenever momentum dips.
The Verdict
Wild West Saloon is the feel-good entry on the Fox in a Box menu — light on horror, heavy on charm, and built like a film set. If your group is mixed in age or nerve, this is the safe bet nobody will sulk through. We got the gold, took the (metaphorical) photo, and immediately wanted to do it again with a bigger posse.
