Parallel universes, it turns out, are not a comforting thought when one of them is leaking. In The Other Side you play paranormal investigators who can feel the bad energy in a writer's apartment, where a demonic force has taken root and is trying to tear open a rift into our reality. The mission: find a way across, use the power of the crystal lights to trap the demon, and restore the balance before it gets loose. If "inspired by Stranger Things" makes you grin, this room was built for you.

This is one of Fox in a Box's two expert rooms, and it earns the label. The design is non-linear — multiple threads unspooling at once, no tidy single path — and there are confined spaces that genuinely raise the stakes, which is also why it's not suitable for younger or claustrophobic players. You'll need a team that can divide, trust each other's findings, and reconverge without losing the plot. When it clicks, turning the demon's own portal against it is one of the best beats in the building.

It's rated 12 and up, leans more eerie-supernatural than gory, and rewards experience. I wouldn't make it your first-ever room — but if you've cleared a few elsewhere and consider yourself good at this, The Other Side is where you find out whether that's true. The atmosphere is thick, the puzzle ideas are unusual, and the in-room hint system keeps a Game Master quietly in your corner throughout.

The Verdict

The Other Side is the connoisseur's pick — a moody, inventive, properly challenging room that punishes lazy teamwork and rewards the brave. Bring your sharpest group, mind the confined spaces, and don't expect to stroll out. We sealed the rift with barely a minute to spare and spent the taxi home re-litigating every wrong turn. That's the sign of a great expert room.
