A granite-walled fort built in the early 19th century to guard the Lantau coast, Tung Chung Fort still mounts six old muzzle-loading cannons behind its ramparts.

Declared a monument in 1979, it is a free, quietly atmospheric stop a short hop from Tung Chung's malls and cable car.
