Tai Po Kau is Hong Kong's richest mature forest, a former plantation turned nature reserve laced with four colour-coded walks from an easy 3 km loop to a hilly 10 km circuit.

Birders rate it the territory's best woodland site, with over 160 species recorded, and on summer nights the streams flicker with fireflies.
