Hong Kong's cocktail and dessert worlds do not often collide this literally. For two weeks only, Gelato Messina and Central cocktail bar Mius have turned two of the bar's signature drinks into scoopable gelato and sorbet — and the clock is already ticking on this one.

What is the Messina x Mius collab?
It is the newest instalment of “The Scoop,” an ongoing series in which Australian gelato brand Gelato Messina teams up with a different Hong Kong culinary innovator to reinterpret their food or drinks as gelato. This time the partner is Mius, the NoHo cocktail bar from award-winning mixologist Shelley Tai, fresh off landing No. 36 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Tai worked directly with the Messina team to distill her bar's cocktail programme into two clean, balanced scoops — one alcohol-free, one very much not. The collaboration runs 18 to 31 August 2026, a two-week window that is already more than half over.
The two flavours
Apple-ly Ever After
A crisp green apple sorbet swirled with aromatic coconut, lime leaf and pandan sherbet, finished with a botanical infusion of juniper berries for a nuanced, non-alcoholic take on Mius' Gin and Apple cocktail.
A-Mius-ing Negroni
A vibrant strawberry gelato infused with bold, bitter Italian amaro and a subtle kick of pink peppercorns — a boozy, striking balance of sweetness and classic Negroni complexity.
Where and when to try it
Both flavours are available only at two of Messina's Hong Kong stores, in limited quantities each day, so an early visit beats a late one.

Why is Mius the bar behind this?
Mius only opened its doors in NoHo, Central in 2025, turning a former appliance shop into a warm, mid-century-modern cocktail den with a tight 15-drink list — each cocktail built around a single clear idea and no more than six ingredients. That editing instinct is exactly why the gelato translation works: both of the collaboration's flavours read as focused, two- or three-note ideas rather than kitchen-sink desserts.
The bar's No. 36 ranking on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 has raised its profile well beyond regulars, making this collaboration a rare chance to taste Mius' cocktail philosophy without ordering a drink.
