By day it pours filter coffee and Japanese-style set breakfasts. After 9:30pm, the same room in Tsim Sha Tsui turns into something else entirely: a retro cocktail den where the drinks menu is a deck of playable poker cards. Meet Kidult, the newest bar to open along Nathan Road.

In short: Kidult is a new retro-themed cocktail bar occupying Grandmama's Café at 1/F, The Nate, 176 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, a two-minute walk from Jordan MTR Station Exit D. Co-founded by mixologist Kosa Law, a top-12 finalist on ViuTV's Master Mixologist, it runs a “Day Coffee, Night Alcohol” concept: the café by day, a poker-menu bar from around 9:30pm. Cocktails run roughly HK$100–150, and walk-ins are welcome.

What is Kidult?

Kidult is a “Day Coffee, Night Alcohol” bar concept built inside the existing Japanese-style Grandmama's Café on Nathan Road. Rather than opening a separate venue, the team flips the same room after dark: warm lighting drops, retro memorabilia and toys line the walls, and Cloudie — the bar's signature mascot — sets the tone for a space that leans into nostalgia rather than the moody, dark-wood look most new Hong Kong cocktail bars go for.

It's co-founded by mixologist Kosa Law, who placed among the top 12 finalists on ViuTV's competitive cocktail show Master Mixologist. That competition pedigree shows up in the drinks list, which balances playful presentation against genuinely considered flavour combinations. For more of the neighbourhood's after-dark options, see our guide to the best bars in Tsim Sha Tsui.

By day it's Grandmama's Café; from 9:30pm the poker cards come out and Kidult takes over the same room — Tsim Sha Tsui's most playful new bar concept.

Instead of a printed list, Kidult's cocktail menu takes the form of a deck of playing cards. Guests draw cards to determine, or narrow down, their drink selection — a mechanic pitched squarely at Hong Kong's growing appetite for bars that double as a night out activity rather than just a place to sit and drink. Drinking games built around the same deck are available on request, and retro memorabilia scattered through the room reinforces the playful, slightly chaotic energy.

It's a similar instinct to what's driving newer nightlife concepts across the city — see our roundup of Hong Kong's hidden bars and speakeasies for other rooms built around a gimmick or a story rather than a straight drinks list.

What's actually in the glass?

The cocktails lean into nostalgic, distinctly local flavour references rather than straight classics. The standout is the Aura Blue, a Dragon Ball Z-inspired, rum-based cocktail built on loquat juice, aged tangerine peel syrup and sea buckthorn juice — a genuinely Cantonese-pantry take on a pop-culture cocktail name. Alongside the shaken drinks, Kidult also runs a set of tap cocktails, designed for quick, consistent pours when the room fills up.

Cocktails run roughly HK$100–150 each, in line with the rest of Tsim Sha Tsui's newer bar scene rather than at the premium end of Hong Kong's cocktail market.
