Tsim Sha Tsui's cocktail scene has a new weekend-only occupant, and it wants you to feel like a kid again — just with a very grown-up drinks list. Kidult, mixologist Kosa Law's second bar venture, takes over a Japanese comfort-food café on Nathan Road after dark on Fridays and Saturdays, pouring low-ABV cocktails dressed up in 1990s and 2000s nostalgia. It's a rare independent bar opening on the Kowloon side, in a strip better known for hotel lounges than cocktail bars.

The short version: Kidult opened late June 2026 on the 1st floor of The Nate, 176 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui — the same address as Grandmama Cafe, whose Japanese comfort-food space it takes over from 9:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays only. Ten low-ABV cocktails, split between four playful "tap" drinks and six signatures with a Cantonese twist, are mixed by Kosa Law and co-founder Alex Ng.

1. Where is Kidult and when is it open?

A weekend-only bar hiding inside a weekday café. By day and on weeknights, the space at 176 Nathan Road operates as Grandmama Cafe, a Japanese homecomfort eatery known for slow-cooked beef tongue and chicken liver parfait. Once food service wraps for the night on Fridays and Saturdays, the room transforms: party hats, stickers and Kidult-branded decorations go up, and the bar service begins.

2. The concept: low ABV, high nostalgia

The pitch is simple: drink like a kid, not like a hungover adult. "We are trying to create a space for people to escape from reality," Kosa Law has said of the bar, which caters to millennials and Gen Z drinkers with a soft spot for 2000s pop culture. All ten drinks on the menu are built around small portions of alcohol — enough for a proper night out across several rounds, without derailing the next morning.

This is Law's second bar project, following her earlier run at ohm... cafe and bar in Kowloon. She's joined by co-founder Alex Ng, whose CV includes stints mixing at Four Seasons Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and Quinary — three of the city's more decorated cocktail addresses. The pairing gives Kidult a technical backbone under its playful surface.

"Growing up is a responsibility, but being tipsy and a kid on the inside is your right." — Kosa Law, Kidult

Only ten drinks, each one a small story. Four "tap cocktails" lean into 1990s and 2000s iconography: the gin-based Bit Boy, made with lychee syrup and mangosteen juice, arrives with a playable Game Boy; the vodka-based Baby Flame, built on peach syrup, sea buckthorn juice and Chinese spicy powder, comes with a Charizard magnet; Sailor Moon- and Son Goku-themed drinks round out the set.

The six signature cocktails lean more local. The tequila-and-aperol Mala Sour (十小辣) nods to noodle chain TamJai Mixian's spicy branding; the Coconut Chicken Martini reworks a dirty martini with savoury chicken-broth flavours drawn from Hong Kong and southern China's coconut chicken hotpot tradition; Crazy Love mixes oolong tea with VSOP brandy; and the whisky-based Sticky Ricevardier brings in green tea and pandan.

Independent cocktail bars outside hotels have historically been rare in Tsim Sha Tsui, with most of the city's award-winning bars clustered in SoHo. Kosa Law counts Kidult as part of a small but growing wave of Kowloon-side entrants that could make the neighbourhood viable for bar-hopping.
