The moon does not move, but the Hong Kong hotel mooncake price does. The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday 25 September 2026 — but by the time the lanterns go up, every meaningful discount in town has already expired. The first one closes on 31 July. This is a buyer's guide to the deadline ladder, with every date and price checked against the hotels' own order pages.

In short: Mid-Autumn 2026 is Friday 25 September, but hotel mooncake savings are decided in July and August. The ladder runs: Gold Coast 31 July (30%), The Peninsula 10 August (10%), Cuisine Cuisine 17 August (bulk), Sheraton 19 August (25–35%), Four Seasons 18 September (bulk to 30%). Buy early, or pay full price.

The 2026 early-bird deadline ladder

Hong Kong's hotel mooncake market runs on a staggered set of cut-off dates, and they are not published anywhere together. Each hotel sets its own, and they land weeks apart. Miss one and you simply pay more for an identical box. Here they are in the order they expire, all taken from the hotels' own 2026 order pages.

Two things stand out immediately. First, the headline percentages are not comparable — a 30% saving on a HK$438 box beats a 10% saving on a pricier one, but only if you actually want that box. Second, and more usefully, the earliest deadline is not always the best price. More on that below.

Gold Coast — 30% off, closes 31 July

This is the first deadline of the season and the deepest straightforward discount. The Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel's Chinese restaurant YUE, which the hotel describes as Michelin-recommended, sells two collections under the Golden Autumn Elegance banner.

A Premium X.O. Sauce add-on runs HK$98 (from HK$168). Bulk buyers do better still: 30–69 boxes takes 30%, 70–99 takes 35% (HK$285 / HK$238), and 100 or more takes 40% (HK$263 / HK$220). Redemption is 10–25 September, 12noon–9pm, at three points — YUE itself, plus the concierges at Olympian City 2 and tmtplaza, which spares you the trip to Tuen Mun.

Other redemption points: Concierge, Olympian City 2 (UG/F, 18 Hoi Ting Road, West Kowloon) and Concierge, tmtplaza Phase 1 (1/F, 1 Tuen Shun Street, Tuen Mun). The Gold Coast is a beachfront resort and is not served by an MTR station at the door; the hotel does not publish an MTR exit for it, so we are not inventing one. Details per the hotel's own 2026 mooncake page.

The Peninsula — 10% off, closes 10 August

The smallest discount on this list, attached to the most collectable tin in the city. The Peninsula's Mid-Autumn line-up sits under Spring Moon, and the hotel's own page is blunt about the terms: "Enjoy a 10% early bird discount on all purchases made on or before 10 August 2026, while stocks last."

Note the phrase while stocks last — Peninsula mooncakes, and the mini egg custard ones in particular, have a long record of selling through before the nominal deadline. The 10% is real but it is not the reason to buy; the reason to buy is that this is the box people in Hong Kong actually recognise. If that is what you want, treat 10 August as a ceiling rather than a plan.

"The earliest deadline is not automatically the best price. At Gold Coast, joining a free membership beats the early bird by two points — and buys you eight more weeks to decide."

Cuisine Cuisine — bulk rate, closes 17 August

Sold as vouchers through the Mira eShop, Cuisine Cuisine's sets are the value play if you are buying for a team. The public and member prices are already discounted, and a fixed per-box rate unlocks at twelve boxes if you order on or before 17 August 2026.

There are also two three-in-one combos, which are the cheapest per-box route of all if you want variety rather than volume: three boxes for HK$828 (HK$276 each) or HK$808 (HK$270 each). Cuisine Cuisine's Tsim Sha Tsui branch sits inside The Mira Hong Kong (美麗華酒店) at 118–130 Nathan Road; the nearest station is Tsim Sha Tsui, though no specific exit is published for it.

Sheraton — up to 35%, closes 19 August

The best members' rate on this list, and the one with the widest gap between insiders and everyone else. Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers runs its Exquisite Mooncake Collection 2026 early bird "from now until August 19, 2026", and the split is stark: Marriott Bonvoy and Club Marriott members get 35% with a promo code, while non-members get 25%. Both are free programmes, so the ten-point gap is really a five-minute sign-up.

The collection is deliberately traditional — white lotus seed paste with two yolks, and mini egg custard. Redemption runs 5 to 25 September 2026, 12noon–7pm, at the Lobby Lounge on Level 2 of the hotel, 20 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The hotel publishes a promo-code enquiry line on (852) 2369 1111. Prices per box are not listed on the collection's landing page, so we are not quoting figures we cannot verify — check the product pages on the Sheraton eShop.

Never Miss a Hong Kong Deadline

Early birds, ballots, on-sales and closing dates — the things that quietly expire while you are thinking about it. Free, once a week.

Four Seasons — bulk to 30%, closes 18 September

The latest deadline, and the most generous entry point for bulk: savings start at just five boxes. The Four Seasons Mooncake Set (5 pieces, HK$498) leads with a new Mini Mochi Custard mooncake alongside the classic white lotus with double salted egg yolk, and comes with the Love in Hong Kong tote, this year in red.

Separately, the hotel's Lung King Heen — which Four Seasons describes as two-Michelin-starred — fields the serious pastry. This year's new arrival is Mixed Nuts Mooncakes with Candied Citrus (6 pieces, HK$628), joined by White Lotus Seed Paste with Black Truffle and Salted Egg Yolk (HK$668), Cream Custard with Toasted Pine Nuts (HK$628) and Preserved Egg and Pickled Ginger (HK$628). An Assorted Signature box is HK$668, and can be paired with a Vintage 2009 Pu'erh tea cake for HK$888.

Here is the catch worth knowing before you order: the bulk savings and the delivery service do not apply to Lung King Heen mooncakes. Those are collection-only, from 10 to 24 September (Cream Custard from 16 September). The Four Seasons Mooncake Set and the gift hampers — HK$2,928, HK$3,988 and HK$12,688 — collect at the Cake Shop from 7 August to 24 September, with 72 hours' notice on hampers. Delivery elsewhere in Hong Kong is HK$200 (Island), HK$300 (Kowloon) and HK$500 (New Territories), and is not offered to the outlying islands. The hotel is at 8 Finance Street, Central, above Hong Kong Station; orders on (852) 3196 8708.

Which deal is actually best value?

If you are buying one or two boxes for the family, Gold Coast is the clear winner on price — but not via the early bird. This is the quiet catch of the 2026 season, and it is sitting in plain sight on the hotel's own page: the 30% early bird expires on 31 July, yet Sino Club and S+ REWARDS members pay 32% less and have until 25 September. A free membership therefore beats the early bird on both price and deadline. There is no reason to rush 31 July unless you refuse to sign up for anything.

For corporate gifting, the maths inverts. Four Seasons opens bulk pricing at five boxes — unusually low — while Gold Coast's 40% at 100 boxes is the deepest cut available anywhere on this list. Cuisine Cuisine's twelve-box rate sits between the two and closes earliest, on 17 August.

One more thing worth saying plainly: none of this is sponsored, and we have not tasted the 2026 boxes. Everything above is drawn from the hotels' own published order pages. If you are building a wider Mid-Autumn plan, our guide to the Lotus Festival at Po Lin Monastery covers the season's other big ritual, while the biggest events in Hong Kong this summer maps what else is running. For gifting beyond pastry, see luxury shopping in Hong Kong and the summer sales; and if the box is destined for a dinner table, the best dim sum in Hong Kong is the natural next stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2026?
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday 25 September 2026. The Peninsula Hong Kong confirms the date on its own Mid-Autumn page. Hotel mooncake redemption windows cluster in the two to three weeks before it, typically from around 5 to 25 September, so order well ahead.
What is the earliest hotel mooncake deadline in 2026?
The Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel's 30% early-bird saving on YUE's mooncakes closes on 31 July 2026 — the first big deadline of the season. Note that Sino Club and S+ REWARDS members get a slightly better 32% and have until 25 September, so membership beats the early bird.
Are hotel mooncakes cheaper if you buy in bulk?
Yes, and it is usually the biggest saving available. Four Seasons offers 15% off from just 5 boxes, rising to 30% at 100 boxes, until 18 September 2026. Gold Coast goes to 40% at 100 boxes. Cuisine Cuisine's vouchers drop to a fixed per-box rate at 12 boxes, until 17 August 2026.
Do I need to be a member to get the best mooncake price?
Often, yes. Sheraton gives Marriott Bonvoy and Club Marriott members 35% versus 25% for everyone else. Cuisine Cuisine's Mi+ price is lower than its public price. Gold Coast's Sino Club rate beats its own early bird. Membership is free to join in each case.
Can hotel mooncakes be delivered in Hong Kong?
It varies by hotel and by collection. Four Seasons delivers within Hong Kong for HKD 200 (Hong Kong Island), HKD 300 (Kowloon) and HKD 500 (New Territories), but not for its Lung King Heen mooncakes or to the outlying islands. Most other sets are collection-only at a hotel counter.
