Run by the University of Hong Kong, this free centre occupies restored pre-war buildings at the foot of Lung Fu Shan — the city's smallest country park — with hands-on displays on the area's ecology and heritage.

It makes the perfect first stop before the gentle, leafy walk up to Pinewood Battery and sweeping views over the western harbour.
