For ten years, the only way to get TeemToneFai's ice cream was to catch one of its pop-ups. Now the quirky Hong Kong brand has a permanent home — and it's picked one of the city's most atmospheric streets to do it.
What is TeemToneFai?
TeemToneFai built its following the hard way — ten years of pop-ups around Hong Kong, known for creative, quirky frozen treats that lean hard into local flavour. To mark its 10th anniversary, the brand has finally opened a permanent flagship, taking a small "cubby" unit at 19 Upper Lascar Row, better known to most as Cat Street — Sheung Wan's antique market, lined with stalls selling everything from porcelain to old film posters.
The fit-out leans into that setting: deep brown wooden walls, tiled floors, a reflective ceiling and a custom-built dragon ornament give the shop a distinctly 1980s Hong Kong feel, sitting comfortably alongside the antique stalls next door. The brand's stated mission hasn't changed since the pop-up days — ice cream made with real ingredients, carrying Hong Kong heritage, and free from artificial colourings or additives.
What's on the menu
The opening menu is split across three ranges. The tea series includes lychee bi luo chun, caramel apple da hong pao and white peach oolong. The Sichuan spice and wellness range gets more adventurous, with sea salt green Sichuan pepper, da hong pao Sichuan pepper black sesame, and red date and purple rice. A speciality and classic line-up rounds things out: watercress honey and young coconut sorbet, ginger tofu pudding, mango sticky rice, and lemon liquorice ginger tea sorbet.
The brand's long-running signature, a corn-cob-shaped sweetcorn ice cream, is also on the menu — the closest thing TeemToneFai has to a mascot flavour after a decade of pop-ups.
