Who is mui zyu?
mui zyu is the recording name of Eva Liu, a British-Hong Kong artist whose music blends phantasmagorical strings, tape-mangled drum machines and traditional Chinese instruments into something that sits somewhere between dream-pop and folk experimentation. She has released two albums and several expansion packs through the American independent label Father/Daughter Records, and has performed with various ensembles across Europe, Asia and North America.
What is the East Asia Tour 2026?
The Hong Kong show is one stop on mui zyu's East Asia Tour 2026, which runs through early September and into October: Zandari Festa in Seoul (5 September), Urbanguild in Kyoto (8 September), a show in Matsumoto (9 September), Moon Romantic in Tokyo (10 September) and Romantic Theatre at YuChen Recording in Taipei (12 September), before she plays The Wanch in Hong Kong on 18 September and closes the run in London on 8 October. Hong Kong is the only Greater China date on this particular leg besides Taipei.
Why see her at The Wanch specifically?
The pairing of artist and venue is a good fit. The Wanch reopened earlier this year after a top-to-bottom renovation of its sound system and interior, while keeping the raw, artist-first spirit that's made it a fixture of Hong Kong's live music scene since 1987. A genre-crossing songwriter signed to an independent US label is exactly the kind of booking the venue has built its reputation on, rather than the covers-band circuit some Wan Chai bars lean on. Date, venue and how to get there
mui zyu at The Wanch
The Wanch is a small, standing-room venue, so arrive early for a good spot near the stage — genre-crossing solo shows here tend to draw a quieter, more attentive crowd than the venue's open-mic nights.
Good to know: as a single-night stop on a wider regional tour, this date won't be repeated on a return visit any time soon — book through Ticketflap ahead of time rather than risking a sold-out door on the night.
