The Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon is the one day a year cyclists get the city's bridges and tunnels on closed roads. The 56km route crosses the Tsing Ma, Ting Kau and Stonecutters bridges and five tunnels: Cheung Tsing, Nam Wan, Eagle's Nest, Sha Tin Heights and the Central Kowloon Bypass. A 32km ride, an afternoon family treasure hunt and a professional 100km race run alongside it. Full detail, including the road closures and where to watch, is in our Hong Kong Cyclothon 2026 guide.
Event Essentials
What it is
A mass-participation ride organised by the Tourism Board, with four categories across the day. The 56km sets off between 5:15am and 8:15am and the 32km between 6:45am and 8:30am, both from West Kowloon; the professional road race runs 9:45am to 12:15pm, and the Covation Family Fun Ride is an afternoon treasure hunt inside West Kowloon from 2pm to 5pm.
If you are not riding
Entries closed before race week, so for most people this is a traffic morning. The route uses the Lantau Link and Route 8, which is the road corridor to the airport, so allow extra time for a Sunday morning flight or take the Airport Express. The Transport Department publishes the exact closures and bus diversions in race week, and it had not appeared when this page was checked on 5 October 2026. West Kowloon is both start and finish, which makes it the one place to see riders twice.
