In short: A 67-metre, incense-studded dragon dances through Tai Hang, Causeway Bay over three nights around Mid-Autumn (24–26 Sep 2026). Free to watch.

One of Hong Kong's most spectacular living traditions, the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance dates to 1880, when villagers paraded a fire dragon to ward off plague. Today a 300-strong team carries the glowing, smoking dragon through the neighbourhood's narrow lanes each Mid-Autumn.

What it is

The dragon's body is woven from straw and pearl grass and stuck with tens of thousands of burning incense sticks. Drummers and bearers parade it through Tai Hang's streets in clouds of fragrant smoke — a hypnotic, slightly otherworldly sight.

Tips for visitors

Get there early to claim a kerbside spot, especially on the main festival night. The lanes are tight and crowds dense; Wun Sha Street is the traditional focal point.
