Held during Hong Kong Art Week, Art Central is the city's vibrant satellite fair — younger and more experimental than Art Basel next door, with a strong focus on emerging Asian galleries, large-scale installations and live performance, all in a marquee right on the harbour.

Scores of galleries showing contemporary and emerging art, ambitious installations, a performance-art programme and a lively bar-and-talks scene. It's more accessible and less blue-chip than Art Basel, which makes for great discovery.

Buy tickets online ahead of time, and plan to do Art Central and Art Basel on the same day or weekend since they're a short walk apart during Art Week.
