Marco De Rossi
Marco De Rossi arrived in Hong Kong in 2021 with a bartending certification and a plan to stay six months. Years later, he's still here — and few people know the city's nightlife from the inside as well as he does. He grew up behind the counter of his father's bar in Red Hook, Brooklyn, learning early that a good bar isn't about the drinks, it's about the feeling.
He bartended across Bangkok, Saigon and Bali before settling into a speakeasy in Sheung Wan, then moved from behind the bar to writing about what happens on the other side of it. He cares as much about the economics of running a bar in Hong Kong's brutal rent market as he does about a perfectly built Negroni.
